“Great For Cricket”: Jos Buttler On Ben Stokes’ Return To ODIs Ahead Of World Cup

England’s Test captain Jos Buttler has said that Ben Stokes’ return to ODIs ahead of the World Cup is “great for cricket”.

Stokes announced his retirement from ODIs last July, citing the need to manage his workload and to focus on Test cricket. However, he reversed his decision on August 16, 2023, and will now be available for the World Cup, which will be held in India from October 5 to 28.

Buttler, who is also the captain of England’s ODI team, said that he was “delighted” to have Stokes back in the fold.

“It’s great for cricket,” Buttler said. “He’s one of the best players in the world and he’s going to be a huge asset to us in the World Cup. He’s a world-class all-rounder and he’s going to add a lot of value to our team.”

Stokes is a vital member of England’s Test team, and he was instrumental in their recent Ashes victory over Australia. He is also a very capable ODI player, and he has scored over 2,900 runs in the format.

His return to ODI cricket is a major boost for England, who are the defending champions of the World Cup. They will be looking to win the title again this year, and Stokes will be a key player in their quest.
